Tiji Festival Mustang Trek - 18 Day

Tiji Festival Mustang Trek - 18 Day

Tiji Festival is the most popular celebration among Tibetan Buddhist people in the Lo Manthang and around the Upper Mustang. Annually celebrate for three days marking the beginning of the harvest season with faith to chase away the demons. During Tiji, people intone prayers and dance. The monks can be seen dressed in traditional wear and performing traditional dances. The red, yellow, and blue colored dresses and the colorful flags make the whole environment bright and vibrant.

According to the myth, Dorjo Jono, a divinity fought a battle against his father to save the kingdom of Mustang from destruction. His father was a demon who caused terror among the people by creating a shortage of water in such a barren land.
